10-years of Soliton IT
The UK and Australia based Radiology Information System (RIS) provider, Soliton IT, is delighted to announce their organisational developments for 2014.
10-years of VR and RIS technology.
Now celebrating 10-years of solution innovation and deployment, directors Bob Watson and Ed Wright had a mutual ambition for the perfect RIS technology back in 2004. Previously owners of Amersham Medical, market leaders in RIS, Bob and Ed had sufficient sector experience and integration knowhow to develop a unique and functional Radiology platform for nationwide NHS deployment; Soliton IT was born.
With RIS research and developments already underway, Soliton IT started their solutions journey with a voice recognition system, Workflow Manager, which sat, process-wise, between existing Hospital RIS and PACs (Picture Archiving Communication Systems). In 2009, after 5 years of Voice Recognition optimisation and onsite Radiology research, Soliton IT launched their long-awaited radiology platform – Radiology+. The onsite development, deployment and support of the workflow based solution – which hosts a strong user interface, speech processing, patient messaging, innovative functional features and management reporting – had started.
Soliton’s first installation was the 300+ user St George’s Hospital in South London who took full advantage of Radiology+ in their busy X-Ray department. With a host of functional features such as activity reports and statistics dashboards. Radiology+ provided the Trust with RIS advancements – fully compatible with their PACS, PAS and EPR – with measurable time and cost-saving results.
Following the successful installation, Soliton also deployed their leading solution into other UK NHS Trusts; Bournemouth and Poole NHS Trusts, UHCW including South Warks and George Elliot, Southend University Hospital and North Lincs & Goole as well as several private practices with X-ray and diagnostic imaging requirements.
The ongoing development of Radiology+ was constant to fulfil sector demand and the respective Trust’s criteria with recent Data Sharing applications being a positive advancement to Trusts whose several affiliated sites hosted varying workflows. This technology impressed assigned procurement Consortiums who had been formed to investigate Healthcare Information Solutions (HIS) and propose bespoke features to procure a single instance of RIS into multi-site Trusts – both as new deployments and as a solution to expired contracts acquired during the NHS National Programme for IT.
Staff appointment – Business Development Manager
To support their 10-years of investment, Soliton IT can announce organisational enhancements to their team structure. On 20th October, Bob Childe was appointed as Business Development Manager with the clear aim of providing uncompromised support to new and existing clients in solutions consultation and deployment. Bob was previously a Sales Director for Sectra, a UK-leading PACS provider, and Healthcare IT Manager during his 23-year period with Philips Healthcare. Bob comments:
“I was offered the opportunity to work with a truly industry-focused and technology-driven company; I want my 25-years of healthcare experience to assist the ambitious nature of the Soliton ethic, support the reputation that their RIS has continued to maintain and help NHS Trusts with their future technology challenges”.
A new era, a new Head Office
Boasting a team of 18-staff, Soliton IT UK has invested resources into a formalised company structure consisting of Sales, Project and Support personnel. These structural elements are now housed in the new Head Office – located in Hemel Hempstead – and contains full training facilities for customers, staff and the firm’s network of Training and Marketing consultants.
Commenting from the Soliton IT Head Office in Hemel Hempstead, Managing Director Bob Watson says:
“It is a new era for Soliton IT. We have an installed customer base of over 40 Trusts and are constantly developing our solutions to accommodate bespoke Trust requirements and sector enhancements. Our fresh new offices and commercial appointments are a tangible return on the 10-years of hard work and experience that we have invested. We believe in Soliton IT and our RIS applications; we are naturally delighted with the sector-wide reception and adoption of Radiology+. It stands to reason that with the industry’s best development team and enhanced support services, the solution is getting the recognition which it duly deserves.”
