Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust invests in internal programmes to reward their teams for dedication and achievements. The ‘Make a Difference’ scheme, created in 2014, is their staff recognition programme which identifies the individuals who go out of their way to exceed Trust and patients’ expectations by nominating them for an instant recognition award.

The aim of the scheme is to recognise the hard work of Trust employees and reflects the impact of people who go the ‘extra mile’ in making a difference to the lives of patients and colleagues. The award itself is a combination of instant recognition, divisional, individual, team and long service awards and for 2017, Imperial Healthcare invited the category of Team of the Year to be nominated by the Trust.

The finalists for Team of the Year were:

  • Patient affairs team, Medicine and integrated care
  • People planning team, People and OD, Corporate
  • Recovery team, Surgery, cancer and cardiovascular
  • RIS/PACS team, Women’s and children’s and clinical support

Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust is delighted to announce that the RIS/PACS Team, led by Imaging IT Programme Manager Laurence Musker, won the Make-A-Difference Award for the successful overhaul of their RIS/PACS system.

This “big-bang” project of the RIS/PACS deployment across 3-large London hospital sites was rated as a flagship project from both the Trust and system developers Soliton IT (RIS) and Carestream (PACS). The system’s implementation, including a 5-million-studies data migration, was completed within 8-months (ahead of the year’s transition deadline) and is currently in use by over 300-radiology users since Go-Live on 30th May 2016.

Laurence comments:

“I am very proud of my team who worked incredibly hard and really did deserve this award. We couldn’t have done it without Soliton IT’s support during implementation – it made all the difference having a supplier that was fully engaged and constantly aware of the required delivery timeframes.”
