Soliton IT is a healthcare software developer and supplier based in the UK and Australia co-founded by Bob Watson and Ed Wright. We specialise in in development, supply, deployment and support of Radiology Information Systems (RIS), workflow technologies, reporting applications and clinical data sharing solutions.
Now celebrating nearly 13-years of solution innovation and deployment, Soliton IT had an ambition for the perfect RIS technology back in 2004. Previously working with RIS leaders Amersham Medical Systems, both Bob and Ed had sufficient sector experience and integration knowhow to develop a unique and functional Radiology platform for nationwide deployment; Soliton IT was born.
Soliton IT started their solutions journey with a voice recognition and workflow system, Workflow Manager, which sat between existing Hospital RIS and PACS (Picture Archiving Communication Systems). After 5-years of VR optimisation and onsite radiology research, Soliton IT launched their full radiology platform – Radiology+. The onsite deployment and support of the workflow based solution – which hosts a strong user interface, speech processing, patient messaging, innovative functional features and management reporting – had started.
The company’s first installation was the 300+ user St George’s Hospital in South London who took full advantage of Radiology+ in their busy X-Ray department. With a host of functional features such as flexible scheduling and integration with other hospital systems, Radiology+ provided the Trust with RIS advancements – fully compatible with their PACS, PAS and EPR – with measurable time and cost-saving results. Following the successful installation, Soliton IT also deployed their leading solution into other UK NHS Trusts as well as several private practices with X-ray and diagnostic imaging requirements.
Expansion into global markets came to fruition with the opening of Soliton IT (Australasia) Pty Ltd. Soliton IT Australasia continues RIS innovations into Australia and surrounding areas with successful deployments into Queensland Health, Western Australia, clinics, teaching centres and private practices to create a global approach to Soliton IT’s intuitive speech processing, document production and RIS applications. The ongoing development of Radiology+ fulfils both sector demand and individual customer’s technical and organisational criteria. Recent additions include data sharing, mobile workflows, a customer support portal and an enhanced statistics module. Our solutions offering has impressed procurement consortiums that have been formed to investigate collaborative approaches to regional healthcare and data sharing.
The company has since expanded their operation and appointed a R&D team, developers, sales and marketing professionals and support engineers to advance their series of desktop and mobile Radiology IT applications and continue the technical innovation for which the company is renowned. With over 100 healthcare sites in its installed base and 11,000 users of their leading Radiology+ solution, Soliton IT is set to become the most rapidly progressing organisation in its sector.
